CoSHH Cabinets reduce the risk to employees health via the safe storage of dangerous substances.
CoSHH cabinets are required in the workplace to manage the storage and segregation of dangerous substances. It is the employer's responsibility to comply with strict Health and Safety requirements in the control of hazardous materials and flammable liquids, that’s why we offer a range of hazardous cabinets within our CoSHH range. We have included a selection of products which are fully compliant with current regulations including HSE Guide HSG51 and DSEAR 2002. To ensure the safe handling of hazardous chemicals and liquids, you can choose from full height hazardous storage cupboards or half height chemical cupboards. Coshh cabinet stands are available to raise the chemical cupboards off the floor by 450mm. This gives easier and safe access to the shelves where potentially harmful chemiclas are being stored. Easy access results in fewer spillages and the potential risk to well being. There are also portable coshh cabinets for the safe transportation of hazardous materials around the workplace with push and pull handles and break castors if required.
We use many different chemcials in the workplace, offices, schools and factories on a regular basis. Everyday dangerous substances such as bleach, cleaning products, glue, paint and varnish should be stored and contained in a secure cabinet or chest. Coshh Cabinets are fitted with safety features such as 3 point locking systems and are manufactured from powder coated steel to provide a robust construction. Reinforced doors also increase the strength and security of the unit.
Spillages are often inevitable, but special spill retaining galvanized shelves are included within the chemcial cupboards to ensure the containment of potentially harmful chemcials and to keep a safe working environment. Liquid tight sumps also help with the containment of spillages The integral sumps are fully welded so that they are leak proof and so no seapage can occur. This is particularly important in preventing cross contamination of the chemicals.
Any hazardous chemical labelled as Toxic, Irritant, Poison, Corrosive or Harmful must be stored away correctly. To help you achieve this we provide new regulation GHS labels which are supplied for you to fit to best indicate the material stored within. This ensures staff and visitors know exactly what is contained inside the cabinet and the nature of the risk inside. The easy to recognise signs are universally recognised in the classification and labelling of chemicals.
What types of hazardous substances can be stored within a coshh cabinet?
There are different types of hazardous materials which need to be stored away together in one safe and secure place. It is good practice to store away similar chemicals in one secure coSHH cabinet. The grey paint finish on the coshh cabinets signify general hazardous materials such as paint, varnish, ink etc. are stored within. However the volume of chemicals should also be taken into consideration when storing hazardous substances together. This means that further segregation and storage of chemicals into multiple secure cabinets would be applicable. Other dangerous chemicals such as flammables and liquids should be seperated and stored in a different range of cabinets specifically for flammable materials. These have additional ventilation via louvres in the doors to prevent build up of fumes. Flammable and liquid cupboards and chests are often painted red to signify that combustable materials such as petrol can be found within. Acid and Alkali substances should also be stored seperately from any other chemical group. White acid and alkali cabinets are often used for this purpose and green pesticide cabinets for these specific and incompatible substances.
