Staff Lockers with Digital Combination Locks for a Confidential Refurbishment Project

Introduction
As part of a refurbishment project, a confidential client had a brand new staff locker room built. They required a secure, practical locker solution for employees.
3D Lockers worked with the client from the initial enquiry, providing advice on the most suitable locker configuration and the best approach for supplying and installing the changing room lockers to suit the new locker room layout.
As both the client and project location are confidential, specific details cannot be shared. However, the project demonstrates how careful planning, product selection and technical advice can help deliver a well-organised staff changing facility.
The Challenge
The client had constructed a brand new locker room as part of a wider refurbishment project and required secure personal storage for staff working at the facility.
The storage solution needed to:
-
Provide individual storage for a large number of staff.
-
Offer secure storage for personal belongings, coats and bags.
-
Maximise the available space within the new locker room layout.
-
Eliminate the need for traditional locker keys.
-
Complement the neutral interior design of the refurbished locker room.
As the project was located within a confidential facility, discretion throughout the supply process was also important.
The Solution
Working closely with the client from the initial enquiry, 3D Lockers recommended a locker configuration that would best suit the layout of the new staff locker room.
To make installation as simple as possible, we recommended supplying nest 1 (single unit) lockers. This allowed the client's installation team to position the lockers to suit the room layout before securing them together on site using the appropriate nesting nuts and bolts. Installation guidance was also provided to assist with the assembly process.
The project included:
-
48 Pure three door metal staff lockers.
-
A total of 144 individual locker compartments.
-
Locker dimensions of 1800H x 380W x 450D.
-
Arctic White doors with Pearl Silver frames.
-
BioShell antibacterial powder coating.
-
Digital combination locks fitted to every locker.
-
Three single-sided slatted benches measuring 1000mm long with ash slats and Pearl Silver frames.
-
Two double-sided hook benches measuring 1000mm long x 450mm high with ash slats, Pearl Silver frames and 10 polymer hooks.
The lockers were supplied with digital combination locks configured in private mode, allowing each member of staff to use the same locker each day by entering their own personal code.
To complement the newly refurbished locker room, the client selected Arctic White doors with Pearl Silver frames, creating a clean, contemporary finish that coordinated with the grey flooring and neutral décor.
Delivery was completed within an approximate lead time of three working weeks.
Why These Products Were Chosen
The selected Pure three door metal lockers provided an efficient way to maximise storage capacity while giving every member of staff their own secure compartment for personal belongings, coats and bags.
We recommended these metal lockers because they offer:
-
A 10-year manufacturer's warranty (excluding general wear and tear).
-
Robust steel construction using 0.9mm and 0.7mm thick steel.
-
Manufacture in the UK's only zero-carbon steel locker manufacturing facility.
-
A durable BioShell antibacterial powder-coated finish.
-
A wide range of lock options suitable for modern staff facilities.
The Arctic White and Pearl Grey finish complemented the grey flooring and neutral décor perfectly to create a stylish, modern appearance throughout the space.
Digital Lock Advice
As part of the specification process, 3D Lockers advised the client on the operation of the digital combination locks to ensure they selected the right locking solution to suit their application.
The locks were configured in private mode, meaning each member of staff uses the same allocated locker each day and secures it using their own personal code.
The digital locks include LED indicator lights that illuminate during operation and provide a warning when the battery is running low. The LEDs do not flash continuously whilst the locks are in private mode, as this is not required during normal day-to-day use.
A master code is also supplied, allowing authorised personnel to access a locker if a user forgets their code or leaves the organisation. A master key was also supplied which can be used when the batteries are ready for replacing.
Installation
To support the client's installation programme, 3D Lockers advised on the most practical method of supplying the lockers for the new locker room layout.
The lockers were supplied as nest 1 units, together with the appropriate nesting nuts and bolts and installation instructions, enabling the client's installation team to securely fix the lockers together on site once positioned.
The complete locker and seating order was delivered with an approximate lead time of three working weeks.
Results
By working with the client from the earliest stages of the project, 3D Lockers' expertise helped ensure the chosen locker system was well suited to both the room layout and the operational requirements of the facility.
Frequently Asked Questions

What are the advantages of digital combination locks?
Digital combination locks remove the need for keys while allowing staff to securely access their lockers using a personal code.
